25 May 2018 introduction of GDPR. This is designed to prevent the misuse of people’s personal data. Westover Web is a news and information service for people in the Bridgwater area, Press outlets and interested members of the public especially those who live in the Westover Ward of Bridgwater. We only store email and name data of people who have clearly consented to receive our news releases which are provided through URLs of news stories and circulated via Mailchimp or pasted on our Facebook pages.

  • At no point will we pass your data on to anyone else and email addresses will be used for this simple informative purpose.
  • At any time you can unsubscribe and we will immediately remove your data from our mailing list

In respect of the email addresses of Labour Party members to who we circulate information, the Labour Party is the data controller, and you can consult their privacy policy (https://labour.org.uk/privacy-policy/ ) for details of what information they hold, why, and how they use and process that information.

Westoverweb will only collect and use personal information for the specific purpose for which it has been obtained.

When registering with this website you may be asked for personal information. In each case, I will ask for your explicit consent to use your information, and I will only use it for the purposes for which you provide it.

The purpose of this website is to promote the activities of Labour councillors in the Westover area of Bridgwater  and to inform people about news stories relevant to the ward and the town.

We will communicate with you solely by email about our work and to give you the latest news on our campaigns and opportunities to get involved. Councillors have a legal entitlement to the full electoral register for their wards, which includes the full name and address of every registered elector and they may write to you in connection with their activities as councillors through this legal entitlement.

We will only send emails where you have provided explicit consent for us to do so. You may withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time from communications by contacting our Data Protection Officer or by using the unsubscribe option we provide in all communications.

We will not use personal data for any automated decision making or profiling .

We will not share personal information with other organisations without your explicit consent

Retention of personal data

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy.

I will regularly review the personal information I hold to ensure that its use is necessary and proportionate.
