BioBlitz on the Meads

Area 10
The Meads…all ready for a bioblitz

People are invited to join a seasonal ecological survey on the Meads.  Become a wildlife explorer for the day and discover what’s living right on your doorstep by joining Sedgemoor District Council’s Ecologist at our third Bioblitz event at the planned  Meads Eco Park in Bridgwater. You can enjoy an afternoon of autumn bioblitzing on Thursday 8th October from 1:30pm.

A Sedgemoor Spokesperson said “We are offering the Bioblitz from 1:30pm to 4:30pm with the meeting point at Westfield Street Café, West Street, Bridgwater (outside Westfield Church) or you can join us on-site. Please make sure that you wear suitable clothing and footwear for the terrain and weather conditions! Children supervised by an adult are welcome to attend the event.”

What exactly is a Bioblitz?

A Bioblitz is a period of ecological surveying in an attempt to record all living species within a designated area. A group including Sedgemoor’s Ecologist, Friends of The Meads and volunteers will conduct an informal field study over the afternoon to identify as many plants, animals, fungi and other organisms as possible. You don’t need to be a wildlife expert – just come along with a willingness to learn and explore.
