Bridgwater’s own Vegan and Eco festival’SEED THE DAY’ is making a welcome return on Saturday 14th September. This event, which has been a feature of the varied food offer in our town centre, has been going since 2019. This year the event will be in Blake Gardens.  and is free for visitors to attend between the hours of 1000am and 3pm. The event is expected to bring in vegan (and vegan-curious) visitors from regions near and far to enjoy all things plant-based and cruelty free.   The market will deliver fresh and exciting vegan products and produce, from an array of vegan street food, baked goodies and sweet treats to sustainable clothing brands, cruelty-free cosmetics and beauty products, and ethical arts and crafts stalls, to name but a few. There will also be a selection of children’s entertainment including face painting and giant bubbles.

Cllr Liz Marsh  “One of many free community events”

Councillor Liz Marsh (Labour, Victoria) BTC’s community events spokesperson said “I’m so pleased to be involved in the delivery of our Vegan and Eco Market that is being held on Saturday 14th September in Blake Gardens from 10am – 3pm. It is one of the many free Community events that Bridgwater Town Council has been putting on throughout the year. Our aim for all of them is to be family friendly, engaging, informative, entertaining and varied reaching all members of our community. We have chosen Blake Gardens as it lends itself perfectly for these events and has become a key Community space for the town.”

Cllr Kathy Pearce -Climate change spokesperson

Councillor Kathy Pearce, BTC Climate Change lead Councillor said:,  “As part of Bridgwater Town Council’s Climate Emergency Strategy, this is a great opportunity to promote amazing alternative produce and products which literally do not cost the earth and have some fun at the same time. We invite everyone to come along to enjoy the range of produce on offer, maybe try something new, and find out how we can all make a difference.”

V-Curious

Bridgwater Town Council operates Seed the Day in partnership with Vegan Fairs who promote similar events across the Southwest. Daisy Botha, Founder of   Vegan Fairs, states: “Our Vegan Fairs have somewhat of a following across   Somerset, and it’s great to see so many local businesses join our markets and join us in the fight for a more vegan and eco-friendlier world. We truly believe this event has something for everyone. So whether you’re vegan yourself or just “v-curious”, we can’t wait to see you very soon!”

Bridgwater Town Council will be running two competitions as part of the day.

Recycled Art Competition

Children in four age categories are invited to participate in a Recycled Art Competition. This is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to showcase their creativity by transforming materials that would typically be discarded into beautiful works of art. Entries should be brought to the Bridgwater Town Council Gazebo by 1pm on the day of the event.
