SEED THE DAY IS BACK!

This Saturday the 25th February, will see the return of the Seed the Day festival and market in Bridgwater’s town centre. Cllr Kathy Pearce, Portfolio Holder for Climate Emergency said: “I am really pleased to see the return of Seed The Day, after we had to sadly postpone the event last September.  This event is jointly organised between Vegan Fairs and Bridgwater Town Council.  The day is always enjoyable and is part of the Town Council’s response to addressing the causes of the climate emergency by promoting produce and activities which are kind to the environment.  Stall holders come from within a radius of 50 miles or less, all offering high quality vegan food and a huge range of good quality products which, literally, do not cost the earth. Local voluntary and charitable organisations also take part, to make the event a real community event and to raise the importance of caring for the environment”.

Cllr Kathy Pearce talks to environmentalist Roy Cheek at last years Seed the Day event

Ecological Emergency

Cllr Richard Morgan

Cllr Richard Morgan (Fairfax East) and a member of the Towns Climate Emergency team added “I’m really pleased to see the Seed The Day market event promoting vegan choices and lifestyle in Bridgwater, and I’m looking forward to some tasty treats! But there is a serious side to this event…Even if we put aside the obvious ethical and animal welfare aspects, a vegan diet has a significant positive impact on our effect on the environment and human-caused climate change.    It is a no-brainer in a climate and ecological emergency. I hope that this event is a step towards Bridgwater Town Council signing up to the Plant-Based Treaty.”

PLUS FUTURE NOTE FOR YOUR DIARY: The next Seed The Day will take place on Saturday 9th September 2023.  SAVE THE DATE!
