Bridgwater Town Team are pleased to announce that the annual Snowflakes and Shopping Switch-On event will take place on Friday 25th November from approximately 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. There are no road closures in Eastover during the day and all of Bridgwater – the businesses, shops, restaurants – will all be open for business. Come along and join in the festive fun.
The event will include an extended Bridgwater Castle Market – all day, as usual, in Fore Street – and late night shopping until 8 p.m. A great timetable of various entertainments has been lined up and fun fair rides in the town from St Mary Street around Cornhill and through the High Street (these roads will be closed form 11 a.m through to 9 p.m. ) Father Christmas will be visiting in time for the spectacular lights to be switched on at 6 p.m. at Bridgwater’s Cornhill.
At 6.45 p.m. there will be a parade of squibbers, starting at New Road along Eastover, making their way to the Town Bridge where there will be a light-tastic squibbing display at 7 p.m.
Parking is free in town centre car parks from 4 pm.

Bridgwater Town Team are a project led group of stakeholders including Sedgemoor District Council, Bridgwater Town Council, Angel Place Shopping Centre and local businesses including lettings agents, Bridgwater College and Bridgwater Mercury. Town Clerk Alan Hurford says ” Our aim is to assist town centre retailers with a range of initiatives including training workshops and business mentoring, match funded grants as well as supporting the Castle Market and actively promoting Bridgwater on a regional and national scale such as this year’s successful Independent’s Day and Love Your Local Market campaigns.”
